Singing and Acting:
Vincent VanHatten, has spent the past several years singing solos across the United States and Europe with the North Star Boys' Choir (NSBC) - a group of classically trained boys from the metro area who have made a name for themselves here and overseas. They are led by artistic director, Francis Stockwell, an internationally recognized choral director who has studied and taught all over the world - most prominently with the Vienna Boys' Choir. He recently graduated because of his voice change with the accomplishments of being voted in as the Head Chorister, the Assistant Head Chorister, and a main soloist many of the years he was part of the choir.
Vincent's affinity for singing became apparent before he could walk and by Kindergarten had joined his first choir. In fourth grade he became the youngest member of the "Viking Choir", the most advanced ensemble in the NSBC organization. That year, they competed in the World Choir Games in Cincinnati, coming away with a silver medal in the children's category and bronze medal in the barbershop category - outperforming hundreds of adult and children's choirs.
During this time, Francis recognized Vincent's talent and dedication - and over the ensuing year helped develop his vocal control and technique in preparation for the most distinguished role: soloist.
By 2013, Vincent was singing solos as the choir toured Germany, Austria and Italy, performing in centuries old basilicas, and cathedrals, including St. Mark's Basilica in Venice.
In November-December of 2015, he played the lead role as "Amahl" in Soar Regional Arts Production of "Amahl and the Night Visitors".
At the Republican National Convention in December of 2016, he and the choir were asked to sing the National Anthem and "America the Beautiful".
In March to June of 2017, he was in Morris Park Players production of "Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat" and in November of 2017, he played the role of "Mr. Pinky" in Hairspray as a Freshman with Osseo Senior High. In April of 2018, he performed in the 3-act play as a Merchant and a Demon in "The Phantom Tollbooth" with Osseo Senior High.
In the summer of 2018, the North Star Boys' Choir and Vincent competed in the Royal Caribbean Cruise Music Festival and received the Grand Prize award (The highest award) beating out all other choirs that competed in the competition.
Most recently, in November of 2018, he played the role of the "Tenor Production Singer" in "Singin' in the Rain" with Osseo Senior High as a Sophomore and also got into the top choir at Osseo Senior High - "Concert Choir". He will be touring with the North Star Boys' Choir to Europe for the third time in the Summer of 2019 while singing in "Kanteroi" - the boys that their voice has changed.
